Thames Gas Pipeline Inspection Survey During March 2005, Pelorus Surveys successfully completed the survey of two 24" gas pipelines across the River Thames. The purpose of the survey was to check the position of the pipelines (horizontally and vertically) and to identify any exposures, spans and any other third party interference.
In addition to the marine geophysical survey, a cathodic protection survey was conducted to assess the general level of protection on the pipeline.
Pelorus Surveys successfully utilised swathe bathymetry, side scan sonar, cathodic protection (pipeline corrosion), seismic reflection, marine magnetic and gradiometer survey techniques to identify depth of burial along the pipeline route.
The MV Pelorus Seacat was utilised for the offshore portion of the surveys. Data was acquired within the intertidal zone using a combination of the Seacat, small dory and traditional land techniques.
Pelorus Surveys have successfully completed many pipeline inspection surveys over the last few years in Belfast, the Solent, the Humber, the Forth, the Clyde, Moray Firth and the Tay in addition to the Thames. |
