Pelorus Surveys - Environment Agency Approved
The Environment Agency have specified that all survey staff proposing to use GPS systems on their sites first need GPS Accreditation. The EA also require verification of experience and qualifications of all survey staff proposing to work for them.
Since gaining approval from the Environment Agency, Pelorus Surveys have been involved with a number of survey projects for the Agency and recently completed a topographic survey of Newton Brook on the Wirral to ascertain silt levels along a 1.3km stretch of the watercourse. The survey formed part of an ongoing flood defence scheme, and in spite of access problems and dense vegetation, was successfully completed two days ahead of schedule, much to the delight of the Agency.
The timely delivery of the Newton Brook project assured the EnvironmentAgency of Pelorus Surveys capabilities and commitment to service delivery, so much so that Pelorus were requested to undertake an urgent topographical survey of the River Irwell, Salford.
The purpose of the survey was to model the extent of scouring along a stretch of the fast flowing river which, although recently having undergone significant remediation works, had suffered a major bank slip.
The survey was undertaken by a team of four and comprised elements of both land and over water survey. The entire works were programmed to be complete and reported within 7 days of notification. The programme was successfully achieved and Pelorus Survey consider the rapid response and prompt reporting sets them aside from their competitors and positions them favourably with the Environment Agency for future survey works. |
