Pelorus Surveys is the specialist land and marine survey division of Soil Mechanics, the UK's leading geotechnical specialists, providing a comprehensive range of hydrographic, oceanographic, geophysical and topographical surveys for civil engineering, geotechnical and environmental investigations
As a result of continuing strong activity in the near-shore environment we are seeking to appoint a Hydrographic Surveyor. This key role involves the day to day running of projects both on site and in the office. Projects are typically of fairly short duration and the balance of fieldwork and office based data processing and reporting is one of the key attractions of this position. |

The position will be based at our North Wales office at Deeside which is approximately 10 minutes from the Roman walled city of Chester and a short drive from the Snowdonia National Park

Key Responsibilities
|
- Delivery of project work (data collection, processing, and reporting).
- Ensuring all projects meet required specifications.
- Providing training and instruction to junior staff.
- Identify innovative technologies to meet project requirements.
- Willing to work away from home during site operations.

| Qualifications/Skills
|
- Qualified to at least degree level in a relevant survey discipline, preferably post degree level.
- Minimum of 1 years post degree experience in a hydrographic surveyor role.
- Proficient with hydrographic survey techniques (both single and multibeam systems), navigation and processing software packages (eg Trimble HydroPRO, GeoSwath+)
- Good knowledge of geodesy.
- Proficient with MS Office packages (Word Excel etc.) AutoCAD, Trimble Terramodel, Fladermaus
- Knowledge of seabed sampling and oceanographic instrumentation (ADCP, Current meters etc)
- Knowledge and experience of marine geophysical techniques
- Knowledge of land survey techniques
