Automatic Landfill Gas Monitor

July 2005

TES Bretby’s Safety Health and Occupational Environment (SHOE) division has just received an order for its 21st Automatic Landfill Gas Monitoring System. The ALGM will be assembled and installed in accordance with SHOE's ISO 9002 quality management system and will automatically sample gas from 19 ground monitoring boreholes and flare at a closed landfill site which is adjacent to a new housing development. The ALGM will measure levels of methane, carbon dioxide and oxygen and will store the data for later retrieval, whilst at the same time providing the protection of "real time" alarms should gas at the perimeter of the site rise to dangerous levels. A modem link will enable the client to interrogate the results, alarms and flare status from their headquarters. It will also enable SHOE technicians to carry out diagnostics from their base at Bretby.

This model includes new automatic safety features which enhance what is already a sophisticated and reliable monitoring system. The oldest ALGM has been running continuously since 1993
