Soil Mechanics has underpinned its order book
for the last quarter of 2004 by scooping ground
investigation contracts valued at over £4m
in the last few weeks. Significant awards were
received in all regions with the larger contracts
coming in the South East and the Republic of Ireland.
In many offices these contracts now secure the
workload for Soil Mechanics through to 2005 and
will place a heavy demand on the depot resources
such that the company is looking to recruit additional
cable tool and rotary drilling crews to complete
the fieldworks. These contracts will also create
a significant workload for the geotechnical laboratories
well into 2005.
